This may include identifying the symptoms, the duration of the symptoms along with their severity and based on the evaluation treatment may be prescribed which may include medication as well as therapy. Individuals suffering from depression may also not actively participate in family life. Such individuals may not enjoy shared activities and may not derive any happiness and satisfaction from leisure interests or hobbies. In many cases of depression if the condition is mild individuals are able to continue their routine activities though it may take a lot of effort. As the symptoms of depression increase their performance on the work front as well as their domestic and social life may be adversely affected.

The physical aspect of depression effects includes greater number of physical pains without any apparent source. Likewise many depressed individuals suffer from chronic fatigue problems. Women tend to display symptoms of depression that may include anxiety and sadness while men tend to experience fatigue. Men are also more likely to seek relief in alcohol and drugs.
